Growing up in a small coastal town in the Philippines, I spent my early childhood years cutting classes to bathe in rivers. The weekends were spent with an early morning swim in the sea. I didn't have any idea that there were white sand beaches then. Our beaches in our part of Northern Mindanao were anything but white, but it didn't make a difference to a young kid like me. All I knew was how much fun I had floating on the water, and baking under the sun. I didn't even have to put on any sunblock or sunscreen. Sunburn was something that came naturally if I overdid swimming so I always knew when to stop.

I’ve gone back to Lake Mainit bearing with me a better camera. And this time, I hope the pictures will be much much better. I still see a lot of potential for this place. The province only has to spend a little more time developing this area as a tourist destination and it should be a good source of livelihood for the people in this area.

It's been more than six months since I last traversed the road leading to Cagwait White Beach. I was bitching non stop then because the roads were just atrocious. Muddy, unfinished, and totally washed out. Imagine my surprise when driving along the same roads yesterday, everything was paved from San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur to Tandag, Surigao Del Sur.

I just love Cebu Pacific Air's promo, not just because of the very low fares that they usually offer but because of their very catchy promo lines as well. Their valentine's day promo line for 2010 is Love is in the fare. Kinda corny if you're one strict grouch but Cebu Pacific Air's Promo one liners never fail to make me smile.
