Planning sometimes can cause major disappointments due to unmet expectations. I find that when there’s very little planning involved, the pleasure derived from that activity is increased dramatically. Note: Apologies for the awful lighting, it was really cloudy when I took these photos and I only have a point and shoot camera. If you’re a superduper millionaire, feel free to send me a Nikon D90.

Here’s my two-cents worth on unplanned roadtrips.

1. Make sure you have clean underwear (because you never know, hint-hint, wink-wink, nudge-nudge).

2. You must have a sweet ride. Note: Sweetness is defined by ownership. You can have the most battered owner jeep imaginable, but if it’s yours, it’s still sweet. If you insist on travelling by bus or other forms of public transportation, make it non-aircon. Better flavor that way. Sweet Ride 3. The route you’re planning to take must have pit stops! It’s for the grub man, best part of the journey. And also for disposing excess food and water. :)
Pit Stop 4. Have an exotic location in mind. It doesn’t have to be foreign to have a foreign sounding name.
Exotic Location 5. And the most important part, make sure there’s an endless supply of roads to where you are going.

Your final destination? Who knows? Road trips are road trips because you’re doing it for the road. Sounds stupid I know but haven’t you heard? Life’s a journey, not a destination. Blame Aerosmith for that!
