I will be a cliche and say that Boracay is still, by far the best beach in the Philippines. No other Philippine beach comes close to it. Palawan, also called the last frontier, may have its beautiful little beaches but when individually putting these beaches side by side with Boracay, Palawan’s beaches pale in comparison.

So why do I love Boracay so much? Let me count the ways.
Boracay has a 3 kilometer shoreline of fine dazzling white sand. Even if you walk barefoot on a scorching sunny day, the sand seems to absorb the sun’s heat and never gets hot as to require you to wear slippers.
Blessed with warm waters from the __ sea, you can dip in Boracay’s waters any time of the day and not shiver in the cold. And the color of the water, it makes you want to drown yourself underneath and never come back up. Even the seabed has fine sand which makes it all the more enjoyable.
With the advent of commercialization, some folks say that Boracay is no longer the paradise that it used to be. True there are now establishments along the beach but I do believe that it only opened up the island to all walks of life. Now it’s not just for people who prefer to rough it out with nature. The filthy rich can have the luxury that they are accustomed to while the not so rich still have their choices of very affordable accommodations.
The food on the island has also become very varied which can only mean that people have more places and restaurants to choose from. Those who complain that the place has become quite expensive don’t know where to look, or lack the stomach for adventure. You only have to dig deeper to see that not everything is priced for foreigners.
The nightlife is thumping as well. There are a lot more bars and establishments now so after a full day of swimming and frolicking under the sun, you can drown your sorrows in beer or dance the night away in the many bars and restaurants by the beach.
Boracay has also become more accessible. Before, people have to spend long hours at sea just to be able to save on fares, but now with plummeting plane fares, everyone can just hop on a plane and be on the island in just a couple of hours minus the financial distress.
Having said that, what’s not to love about Boracay, the best beach in the Philippines.

nice photos! everyone wants to go to boracay. i'm glad i went there, just once only in mid-80s when it was still a bit “virgin”, with no electricity so it was really a beach holiday! with lots of developments there now hope there are enough guidelines on making it a good holiday destination for all.

Yes we can! Via the Strong Republic Nautical Highway. We will have to take the barges (Batangas – Mindoro, Mindoro – Caticlan) though which cost a pretty penny if we bring our own rides.

Hi Carnation, it's time you revisit! You'd be amazed at the developments there. The beach is still very fine I can tell you that. About those guidelines, when I'm not feeling lazy (which is most of the time) I can probably do one. You could also visit the Wow Philippines site if you want.

You have to fly in to the Philippines first. Once you're in Manila or Cebu, there are lots of flights going there.

i agree that boracay is one of the world's best beaches and it is good to know that is shows signs of progress for a better livelihood of the people living there and better tourists' experiences.
however, despite all the progress, i just hope that they would help progress mother nature as well in making it still as one of the world's best beaches for it is her that made it one of the best. i vote for sustainable development!

While I agree Boracay has a great stretch of beach I'd consider more than just the fact the sand is white, clean and long. I've been to both areas you speak of and I'd rate the beaches I've been to in Palawan as nicer simply because they aren't over run with tourists and all the noise, pollution and the rest that goes along with that.

I have been to Boracay only once, but promised not to return ( too commercialized for my taste). There are other white sand beaches in the Philippines comparable if not better than Boracay. One in particular is Poctoy White Beach in Marinduque.

Yes, please check it out. Marinduque is not well known as Boracay, but if you want white sand beaches ( no night clubs), hospitable people, caves, waterfalls, fringing reefs, subterranean rivers, eco tourism activities, old churches and the Moriones Festival, my island paradise is the place to visit. If you want to spend money and stay at the most luxurious and expensive resort in South East Asia, there is Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa in Buenavista, Marinduque.

I have been to Boracay 3x and I still want to visit it in the future or maybe this year. I don't know if Shangrilla Hotel is finished already.
If you are in the United States of America I think Bahamas is also good.

Bahamas is great! One of my dream destinations. I can't get enough of Boracay myself, and I've been there plenty of times.

I haven't been to Boracay yet. But I was in Aklan last Holy Week. Took a bus and a ferry through the nautical highway. It was a pleasant trip.

It's true that Boracay's natural beauty sets the standard, but I'm not too keen on the party atmosphere.
